Baked Apples 1 C. sugar (brown or white) Butter 9X13 pan, fill ¾ full of apples that
have been quartered. German Apple
Cake
½ C. shortening Beat shortening until smooth. Add sugar and eggs and beat until
fluffy. Mix
flour and cinnamon together; combine soda and sour milk. Then add the dry
ingredients and the milk alternately to the creamed mixture.
When well blended, fold in apples. Pour into greased 9X13 cake pan.
Sprinkle topping over cake and then bake at 350 for 45 to 50 minutes.
Topping:
½ C. brown sugar Apple Oatmeal Crisp
4 C. sliced peeled apples Place apples in 1 qt. casserole. Sprinkle with lemon juice.
Microwave on high
until apples are tender-crisp, 2 ½-4 minutes. Quick Applesauce Crisp
2 C. applesauce Topping:
½ C. sugar Preheat oven to 400. Combine all ingredients except those for the
topping and
put in a 9 inch pie plate. Mix the topping ingredients using 2 knives or pastry
blender, until it is like cornmeal. Then sprinkle this over the applesauce
mixture. Bake 30 minutes in moderate oven. Serve warm or cold, plain, or with whipped cream. Appledoodles
2 2/3 C. flour Stir together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Cream together
butter, ½ C. white and ½ C. brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; mix thoroughly.
Combine flour mixture and sugar mixture. Add apple. Combine remaining sugar and
cinnamon. Shape dough into balls with teaspoons and roll in cinnamon-sugar.
Bake on greased cookie sheet in preheated 350 oven for 12-15 minutes or until
brown.
Makes about 4 dozen cookies. |
